A magnificent and large Famille Rose Vase. 40% larger than the referenced 10″ vases from Sotheby’s & Bonhams, this impressive 14.5″ piece is in Daoguang style with an apocryphal Jiaqing mark in iron red. I inherited this from my grandmother, who inherited it from her grandfather. While there is a Jiaqing symbol, it appears to be a clear example of Daoguang reign. The price reflects the fact that it is Jiaqing seal from Daoguang reign. With the slightly bigger size comes a more globular shape and thus larger canvas to admire the intricate and delicate detailing. For a similar turquoise-ground’famille-rose’ vase from the Qing court collection, preserved in the Palace Museum, Beijing, see Porcelains with Cloisonne Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration.
